HOW THE MATH WORKS
A playable structure starts with stack depth, not random blind jumps.
The calculator starts near 100 big blinds, escalates through familiar live-poker blind values, and inserts breaks at practical intervals. Larger fields receive slightly more frequent breaks because seating and color-ups take longer.
Use the result as a strong first draft. If your group plays slowly, extend the level length rather than adding tiny blind increases. If the game must end earlier, shorten levels before making the opening stack artificially shallow.
How long should poker tournament blind levels be?
Ten-minute levels suit short turbo games, 15-minute levels work well for most home tournaments, and 20-minute or longer levels create deeper club structures.
When should the big blind ante begin?
Many home tournaments introduce the big blind ante after the opening levels, once players have settled in and the blinds begin putting meaningful pressure on the starting stack.
Will the tournament finish at the exact target time?
No calculator can guarantee an exact finish. Field size, re-entries, player style, dealing speed, and breaks all affect the real duration.
